Great. Dana just called from home, my PC bootup is broken. Must have something to do with the files on C: I’ve moved yesterday. Brilliant. I think I know what I’ll be doing for the evening… grrr. Oh, and of course my frickin’ 3.5” floppy drive is broken, so I gotta fix that one first.

What is it with the bootup options?? It’s the 21st century, and you still need a boot diskette when the box went haywire…

My United Devices client (running cancer research) is crunching this very packet fro about 64 hours by now. It’s a VEGF protein (Q3), whatever that means. Feels good to passively do some active work for a good cause. Looking for aliens is cool and all, but I think it’s more likely and urgent to find a cure for cancer than ET (asking for a phonebook).

Some of my co-workers are complaining that UD is working with Intel and several other companies. Yeah, well, so what. They are afraid that the results of the research might be used for commercial projects. But honestly: if I’d have cancer, I think I wouldn’t care if it’s a private or commercial project helping me – as long as there is help.
