We went to watch The Bourne Identity and Signs last night.
The first one was really good, definitely a keeper. I loved the chemistry between Franka Potente and Matt Damon, I loved how they portrayed their characters, and I loved how these characters were not the stereotype let’s-kick-some-ass-and-then-crack-a-lame-joke action heroes. I mean, that one scene where they leave the Paris safehouse, and her stomach just turns upside down due to all the stuff she’s just seen upstairs? Wow. Great nuances, very likable.
I was pleasantly surprised about the score. It was fun to watch the Mini Cooper racing thru Paris to the sound of Paul Oakenfold’s “Ret Steady Go” (the album’s name is “Bunkka”, in case you wonder). Same goes for the end credits where Moby took the lead. Gotta grab the soundtrack somewhere, it was well done.
Still unsure about Signs, tho. It wasn’t bad, it had hilarious moments, a really good atmosphere, sometimes I was on the edge of my seat, the actors were doing a fine job, but still… I’m unsure what to think about it.
Then again, I had 5 hours of sleep only and I’m already in the office again, so that might explain it. I guess I need some more time to think about Signs before I can make a statement about whether I like it. :)
