My new DVD player will arrive today. w00t!

A co-worker of mine bought my old one. I told him about the errors (and the related workaround I’ve found), and he didn’t mind, so hey. Good for me. :)

Just returned from the Körperwelten / BodyWorlds exhibition here in Munich. I’m still unsure what to think of it, I think it needs some more time to sink in. On the one hand, it was very interesting to see how the human body is made up, and what internal organs look like in both healthy and unhealthy state (smoker lung – like a burnt plastic bag, really); on the other hand it was very strange because all the exhibits were living beings in the past who donated their bodies to the exhibition.

There was quite some preceding the exhibition coming to Munich; the city fathers didn’t want to allow it here because they felt showing dead humans in a way like this was sick and inappropriate. “A way like this” means the exhibits (read: donors) were plastinated and displayed in a more or less artistic way, e.g. in running positions, w/o skin in front of a chess board etc.

It went to court, and they the city lost the case. The judges ruled that some of the exhibits weren’t allowed, tho – such as the rider and the horse, both of course plastinated and partially opened for display so the visitors could see that both horse and man are relatives to some degree, when it comes to the overall structure of the body and the organs.

Well, Dana wanted to see it, so we went there. There was a part of the exhibit which was separated from the rest using mobile walls and the likes, which contained a pregnant woman as well as a couple of dead children and unborns. We didn’t visit this part, I didn’t want to, and Dana didn’t feel like neither. They had a display with several states of a fetus on display among the other “normal” exhibits, but personally I think they should’ve put these to the enclosed area as well. I don’t feel well seeing unborns like this. I mean, the other donors were willing to give their bodies after their demise, but… well, I don’t know.

Anyways, it was an interesting exhibition after all. Definitely one of the weirder things I’ve seen in my life so far. :)

Hoo boy – I just noticed there’s a new project out there using my Class.Jabber.PHP.

[Quote] JPT is a web-based Jabber client written in PHP using Class.Jabber.PHP. It enables users of wireless terminals (such as WAP- or iMode-enabled phones, UMTS terminals, PDAs, webpads) to access their Jabber accounts through them. [Quote]

You can find JPT here. VERY nice. Damn, it’s a good day. :)

While we’re at it: die bislang englischsprachige Aktion zum Steak and Blowjob Day hat jetzt auch eine deutsche Übersetzung erfahren (ich war so frei), und die findet man hier: Schnitzel-Und-Blowjob-Tag.

Mitmachen, Freunde.

Also, spread the word und unterschreibt. Danke.
