Max Barry:

[Quote] Last night I took a break from re-reading Cryptonomicon to pick up a book roughly as long as one of its paragraphs: Sealed With a Kiss, by Mary-Kate and Ashley Olsen.

It was number 20 in a series, so at first I wasn’t sure if I would be able to follow the story-line without having read the previous 19, but luckily these fears turned out to be unfounded. It was a cracking read, full of hope and joy and heart-breaking pathos, so I’m sharing it with you. [Quote]

One of the finest book reviews you’ve ever read. ;)

Vendetta™ Central – Work in progress:

[Quote] Development on the new universe is going pretty well. Waylon’s been doing most of it, implementing my basic design with a lot of detail of his own. Ray’s done a great job on making the navigation stuff happen thus far. Hopefully you’ll be seeing their handiwork in the not-too-distant future.

The scale of this new universe is dramatically larger than anything we’ve dealt with in Vendetta before, and a lot of work will still remain before all the sectors are as detailed as we would like. However, generally speaking, you can expect 30 Solar Systems linked by various wormhole areas. The Solar Systems themselves contain 256 “sectors” of space. So.. where the current Vendetta universe is 18 sectors, the new universe will be 7,680 sectors. [Quote]

[via IMG] Hmm, now doesn’t that sound promising. This could be something to look forward to. I am in dire need for a good space MMOG since my last sad space MMOG-related decision.

I mean, it looks and sounds like they take the best of EVE (size, dynamic market), E&B (many colors) and Jumpgate (joystick-based flight, cockpits, dogfights and motor-skill-based gameplay) and throw it in one big pot that is labelled “Win / Linux / OSX”. I sure hope they’ll succeed.

OMG. Dreamhost, the best damn web hosting provider on this rock has just upgraded ALL accounts for FREE.

[Quote] Everybody now gets 60% more disk space and bandwidth! You don’t have to do anything to get it. [..]

ENJOY!

And tell your friends and foes.. what a great time to switch to DreamHost (and don’t forget you can get $65 for referring them too)!

Don’t worry, the new allotments are permanent!

Thanks,
The Happy DreamHost 1.6 Team! [Quote]

That must be the fourth or fifth time in the last 3.5 years I’m with them that something like this has happened… BEST WEB HOSTING PROVIDER EVER! And I’m not just saying that because I get a reward for every new customer I get them. That sure is nice, but I’m fully behind my choice. As I’ve said, I’m in my fourth year with them, and leaving is not an option for me. I’m one happy camper here. Hah! :)
